Unique Infections That Can Lead to Sepsis: Red Flags and Case Insights (CE Session)
Includes a Live Web Event on 09/24/2025 at 7:45 AM (PDT)
Description:
This session is part of Sepsis Alliance Summit 2025.
Sepsis can emerge from more than just the usual suspects. This session highlights unique and underrecognized infections that can trigger a life-threatening sepsis response. Through real-world case insights and clinical patterns, the presenter will explore how subtle or delayed symptoms can mask serious infections, challenging even seasoned providers. The session will emphasize the importance of collaborative, role-specific action, from the bedside to leadership, in driving timely, evidence-based interventions. Attendees will be better equipped to anticipate risk, respond decisively, and improve outcomes in patients with uncommon sepsis pathways.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, the learner should be able to:
- Apply critical thinking to identify sepsis risk early in complex patient presentations, including those with delayed or atypical symptoms;
- Describe the role of advanced practice, bedside nurses, and leadership in implementing evidence-based interventions that improve outcomes in high-risk, unusual sepsis cases;
- Identify at least three less commonly recognized infections and understand their pathophysiologic link to sepsis.
Target Audience:
Nurses, advanced practice providers, physicians, emergency responders, pharmacists, medical technologists, respiratory therapists, physical/occupational therapists, infection prevention specialists, data/quality specialists, and more.
